Over the last 7 years working on digital ads I have seen a couple of cases where accounts hacked and brashly spent our clients money. Usually, hackers just use your credit card for a different account and they run their adsā¦ until you pick up on it and begin your reporting to facebook support. But who wants to reach this displeasing situation? I guess nobody so here are a couple of steps to prevent your Ad manager hacking:
ā¶ Require Two-Factor Authentication.
Require everyone associated with your Business Manager, including partners to sign up and use two-factor authentication.
ā¶ Change passwords or Log out regularly.
If youāre not using your Ad Manager, be sure to log out.
ā¶ Remove admins that donāt need access to the Ads Account anymore.
That is an extra protection tip which ensures more control and safety.
ā¶ Monitor ads and spending on a regular basis.
Make your weekly checks on your active ads and your account billing to ensure all activity is in line with your expectations.
ā¶ Use third party apps for two-factor authentication.
Phone networks used for two-factor authentication arenāt 100% secure as hackers can intercept sms. Third parties such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator provide a more secure way to generate codes that expire after 30 seconds.
For Extra safety you can Turn on notifications about Business Manager roles, ad accounts and ad approvals. You can also check your devices and view what device is currently logged to your account. (Security & Login section). Last but not least, scan your devices for possible malware and remove any suspicious app or plugin of your browsers.
